This section discusses the materials and assessments used by my Resource Teacher.

Teaching Methods of the Teacher that You Observed


The class I was assigned to observe are grades three and four. Since we are in the elementary grade level it is expected that teachers must get and retain the students' attention and my Resource Teacher can do that. When entering the classroom, she greets the class with enthusiasm creating a positive atmosphere in the classroom. After that she settles the class and calls one student to lead the greeting. The students will then say “give greetings to our teacher” and then they will proceed to giving honor to the Indonesian Flag. Afterwards my Resource Teacher starts her class with an energizer by asking the students how they were, the students will then say I’m healthy, strong, wonderful, amazing! With matching actions to be followed by their chants such as day by day I want to be a good, better, and best, student! Additional greetings like “I am the best, you are the best, we are the best, Yes! Yes! Yes!” or sometimes the alternative chant which is the “Semangat” or sometimes the School’s motto “Tarakanita, Yes!”


Proceeding to discussion, my Resource Teacher is always eager to teach. She gets the students attention by having a loud voice, expressive actions and practice authority when necessary. Like any other discussion she makes sure that it is related to the students life in order for her students to share their stories. As for the language, she uses Bahasa Inggris  (English) first for directions and then translates it into Bahasa if she notices that students can not understand her. During recitations, she meets her students from eye to eye showing that she is attentive and interested in what her student is saying. She calls out the students who misbehave but not in a way that the student will feel ashamed in front of the class.






Their Learning Materials and Innovation


Inculcating technology in the 21st education, my Resource Teacher uses learning materials such as powerpoints, projector, and youtube clips. She also uses markers to write on the whiteboard and printed handouts to ensure that all the materials are utilized. This is a strategic way in meeting the students' needs since they have different learning styles.



Sources of Learning and Technology Used By The Teachers


SD. Sint Carolus uses their previous lesson plans and renews some of the activities that are aligned to the students interest. They also use the books as a guide for their lessons and for student assessments. The teachers also used Google as references to enhance their activities or discussion. As for the technologies, each room has a projector that teachers used to present their powerpoint presentations or video clips to entertain the students.



Authentic Assessment Used By The Teachers

One of the objectives of my Resource Teacher is for her students to learn to make a conversation using the English Language to which she provides a hand out where the students will memorize the English Conversation. In addition to this, My Resource Teacher provides worksheet activities to retain and for the students to be familiarized about their topic of the day.
